Please contact: musiclessons@st-andrews.ie for any queries. Private music lessons take place after school in the music department in the 90s area from 4-9pm. Students are not permitted to leave class for lessons in St. Andrew’s College. However, if a student has a free period during the day, we can often facilitate lessons at this time or at lunchtime if a student wishes. In the unlikely event that we cannot timetable a class that suits you, your money will be refunded immediately.
How to book:
- EasyPaymentsPlus opens at 8am on 20th August 2025 – payment must be made in advance of timetabling. No classes will be timetabled before payment is received. Please choose the instrument and pay accordingly. You may pay for multiple instruments for multiple students at the same time. Please DO NOT pay through the Junior School as it is a separate booking system, and we cannot see the payment. If you are new to the school, it would be a good idea to set yourself up on EasyPayments before the opening date.
- After you pay, please email musiclessons@st-andrews.ie with your preferred times and days for lessons. Please check your child’s academic and extracurricular timetables before emailing. These are available at their induction day, Thursday 22nd and on the college website.
- Please be mindful that timetabling will take place from 25th – 28th August for all the different instruments. Emails will be answered in the order payments are made. Lessons commence on 29th August.
Fees/Terms
Lessons cost €27.50 per half hour class. Fees must be paid at the beginning of each term; in August for the first instalment and at the beginning of January for the second instalment. No classes will take place without payment.
Absences/Lessons missed
Lessons missed by the teacher will be re-scheduled. Lessons missed by pupils cannot be refunded. If reasonable notice is given, teachers may, at their discretion, reschedule lessons. However, they are not obliged to do so.
Attendance
Pupils are expected to attend lessons for the duration of the academic year. Please advise us 2 months before term 2 starts if the student cannot continue. Regular attendance is obligatory. Pupils unable to attend a lesson should inform their teachers (emails are below) prior to the lesson. Classes take place on a weekly basis. There will be no music classes during school holidays or on days where the college is closed.
Practice
Regular practice is essential to ensure progress, development and enjoyment. Parents are asked to ensure that pupils wholly understand this and are prepared to devote time and effort to regular practice.
Exams
Exams are optional and will be arranged directly with the instrumental teacher. Where an accompanist is required, sufficient rehearsal time will be obligatory before the exam.
