Sport
Sports Co-ordinator: Mr Ivan Ovington
Sport is a huge part of life in St Andrew’s College. The sports programme is driven by members of the teaching staff and all students are encouraged to participate in it.
Hockey, Rugby and Basketball are the main winter sports on offer. We field, on average, 40 teams each year between the boys and girls across these three disciplines competing on the provincial and national stage. During the winter months we also field sides in Golf, Equestrian activities, Cross Country, Sailing and Badminton.
Our extensive summer programme offers Cricket, Athletics and Tennis for both boys and girls with an in-house Soccer Tournament run for the boys. The last decade has seen St Andrew’s College re-emerge as a force in both boys' and girls' cricket within the province. Our tennis teams have also enjoyed success on the provincial stage and the numbers participating in the East Leinster Athletics Championships have grown year on year.
We are lucky that all our sporting facilities are on campus with two synthetic hockey pitches, two rugby pitches, a state of the art sports hall, as well as a gym and weights facility. All of these facilities are put to full use each afternoon with the sports grounds becoming a hive of activity.
