Oxford Schools Debating Competition - World Finals
I am delighted to be able to offer a warm welcome to St Andrew’s College. I hope our website gives you a sense of how busy, and ambitious life at St Andrew’s College is, and an understanding of the ethos that we share.
At the College, we know that a child’s time in school is precious. The days spent in class, on the stage, on the sports pitch, helping in the community, and being with friends, are the foundations on which their future lives are built.
During their time at the College, our students learn new skills, discover their talents and form lifelong friendships. We aim to develop the whole person, knowing that life is about more than just work. Preparing for life beyond the classroom is one of the special things about St Andrew’s, and it is a key part of what we are about.
Our mission is to prepare young people with the knowledge, skills and characteristics that they need to live fulfilling lives and become successful global citizens who can make an impact and help to build a better world.
We strive to give our students the best possible foundations for their future lives by creating an engaging and successful learning environment where the students can realise their potential, contribute to school life and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Our ethos is a major strength. We have high expectations of behaviour, and we are proud of the excellent relationships we forge with our students, parents and the wider school community. Underpinning the St. Andrew’s education is a deep commitment to academic excellence, matched by a spirit of active participation. We meet each student’s individual needs, while providing a rich, broad and balanced curriculum. Moreover, we provide every student with opportunities to engage in activities and experiences, both inside and outside, of the classroom, so that they can discover their unique talents.
Students and their needs are at the centre of everything we do. We pride ourselves on the deep levels of pastoral support and guidance, we offer every member of our student body and place equal emphasis on the importance of developing young people who have a clear sense of purpose and an active moral conscience. We expect our students to behave as responsible citizens who will make a positive difference in the society of today and of tomorrow.
It is vital to us that our students leave St Andrew’s College fully equipped with the skills, confidence and qualifications they will need to succeed in an ever-changing world. We want their time with us to be full of memorable experiences that they can happily reflect on for many years to come. That is what makes our job so challenging, and so rewarding, because as a school, we know we can make a difference.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
Choosing the right school for your child is clearly a hugely important and potentially difficult task.
It is advised that parents or guardians familiarise themselves with the Mission Statement and educational objectives of a school to ensure that they are in keeping with the ethos and atmosphere desired for their child. Please see the relevant sections on our website.
